Accelerated Reader

May 20, 2024 is the deadline to reach the AR goal and earn an AR medal.

Accelerated Reader Online Program

Students in K-8th grade can click below to search for AR Book levels.
Click here to find the book level and/or points for AR books

How does AR work?

  • Each student is assigned a reading range.
  • The student then chooses an AR book (physical or electronic) based on their interest and reading level.
  • Articles, Other Reading, Vocabulary Practice and Literacy Skills will NOT count for AR points.
  • AR quizzes can only be taken in English for AR points.
  • When the student finishes reading the book, he/she takes the AR quiz at school to assess comprehension.
  • The student earns points for demonstrating comprehension of the book on the quiz.  Full points are earned by answering all test questions correctly. Students who average at least an 85% on quizzes taken are considered to comprehend what they have read at their reading level.

AR Incentive

Our school wide incentive program is as follows:

  • Each month a winning class by grade level is chosen based on the number of points obtained by all students, number of students participating, and percent of correct answers.
  • At the end of the school year, students that meet the required number of AR points will receive the Accelerated Reader Medal.   The top three students in each grade level will receive a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place AR medal instead.

How can I help my child?

  • Promote reading at home, encourage your child to read, read to them, let them see you reading and encourage them to carry their books wherever they go.
  • Ask about the current book they are reading, and their AR point goals status.
  • Congratulate them when they reach their goal.
  • Have your child access online AR books.
